If you were penitent,
Long ago there was a time;
If you were a sinner and
If you committed a crime.
If you were a believer
And in God you did believe.
To the Temple and the Priest
A tribute you would leave.
That would absolve you
Of the sins of the past.
And if you paid more
Of the sins since the last.
Dark were those days.
But times change, you see.
You've right to your want
And to be and let it be.
Cocksure you need to be-
You need not be penitent.
Sins go into the cupboard,
Who really is omniscient?

self realization and confession and a promise to not to repeat... to bow down on our knees in the temple where our God resides .. is indeed a gr8 way to begin a day and life glorious enough :)
loved your poem ...so much through my perception !! :)
Its an attempt to move on while confessing sins! attempt to move on for good!
confession is easier said than done but that is the first step to live, to move on! well put!
I am sure there are still many people that think they can buy their way out of anything. Sadly this is quite the norm.
Nice compilation; amazing weave of words.
Well said! The love of Jesus cannot be purchased.
@mysay : thank you! days are indeed glorious when we know they are.
@ Arumugam Easwar : thank you sir!
@ermagherd : it can't be, but when has that stopped anyone.
@oldegg : there are, there are. but no one evens pretend penance now. The corruption is more earthly now.
who has seen god put anyone in jail?
@Akila - you get it. Thanks for commenting!
I'm still on the penitent side, but there are so many who believe this is it, there is no more, I feel sorry for them.
still we move on.......
